We are your one stop shop for everything local. From local Artisans and Makers, to small but mighty service providers, we can connect you with a network of small businesses seeking to make their mark on the world and the communities in which they live. As a vendor, you list the product inventory on your section of the BuyLocalYEG site, we take care of selling the products, you get the necessary ecommerce exposure you need, and then you get paid. It’s that simple!

To ensure your customer’s unique needs are met, we will capture your customer order information and provide them with your curbside pick up information. In the new year we plan to expand the buylocalab offering and explore shipping options.

As this is an attempt to help the community, we are offering a free trial and no commissions period in December. As we go through this experience together, with your patience, and with the goal of accessibility in mind we will likely be in touch early 2021 to solidify monthly subscription costs and commission fees, which we will establish in partnership with each merchant we work with on an individual basis.

We will aim to keep costs reasonably low.  We are doing this to ensure businesses like yours can get a taste of what it is like to sell online, and keep on top of this dramatic shift in your customers online buying behaviour, And whenever you decide to take the leap towards your very own online store, we will be there to help guide you through it every step of the way!

Monthly Subscription costs and commissions will be revisited in the new year.

No contract and No obligation to start

If you have an existing Stripe account, we can set you up directly to be paid with each transaction that occurs. If you don’t have a stripe account, we will collect the funds for you, and then you can withdraw from your e-commerce portal and funds will be transferred to you. Looking for more details about this? We are excited to have you! Simply fill out the vendor registration form, and we will get in touch with you for further details and next steps! We will work with you to capture your product information, store details, and then teach you how to populate your products and get them published on BuyLocalYEG

If you need to discontinue the service for any reason, No problem! Rest assured that there are no cancellation fees, and we will be on standby to welcome you back with open arms in the future.

Absolutely! Even if your product is not made locally, we intend to support Alberta based businesses. Please keep in mind that since our aim is to support small and mighty businesses, we will not be partnering with any franchisees of chain businesses, liquor, mlm, cannabis, or vape stores at this time. 

We would love to feature a standard service item on behalf of your business. At this time, we will only be offering the sales of already established gift cards with predetermined amounts. Get in touch with us to discuss the details and to determine if this is a viable option!

Terms & Conditions

Prohibited uses of your Marketplace

In connection with using and accessing the BuyLocalYEG services you will not:

  • Post, list or upload content or items in inappropriate categories or areas on our site
  • Breach or circumvent any laws, third party rights or our systems,  policies or determinations of your account status
  • Use our services if you are not able to form legally binding contracts (for example if you are under 18 years old), or are temporarily or indefinitely suspended from using our sites, services applications or tools
  • Failure to pay for items purchased by you, unless you have a valid reason as set out in a BuyLocalYEG policy, for example a clear typographical error is made, or you cannot contact the seller
  • Failure to deliver items sold by you, unless you have a valid reason as set out in a BuyLocalYEG policy, for example, the buyer fails to comply with the posted terms in your listing or you cannot contact the buyer.
  • Manipulate the price of any item or interfere with any other user’s listings
  • Post false, inaccurate, misleading, deceptive, defamatory or libelous content
  • Sell products that violate any local Canadian laws 
  • Take any action that may undermine the feedback or ratings systems
  • Transfer your BuyLocalYEG and user ID to another party without our consent
  • Use copyrighted images to sell your products

Dispute Resolution

You and BuyLocalYEG agree that any and all disputes or claims that have arisen, or may arise, between you and BuyLocalYEG (including any disputes or claims between you and an third party agent of BuyLocalYEG) that relate in any way to or arise out of this or previous versions of the User Agreement, your use of or access to the services, the actions of BuyLocalYEG or its agents, or any products or services sold, offered or purchased through the services shall be resolved exclusively through final and binding arbitration, rather than in court. Alternatively, you may assert your claims in small claims court, if your claims qualify and so long as the matter remains in such court and advances only on an individual.

Payments and Billing

Through the site, BuyLocalYEG provides electronic web-based platforms for exchanging information between buyers and sellers of products or services. BuyLocalYEG additionally provides electronic web-based transaction platforms for members to place, accept, conclude, manage and fulfill orders for the provision of products and services online within the site subject to the terms of the BuyLocalYEG services agreement. However, for any services, BuyLocalYEG does not represent either the seller or the buyer in specific transactions. BuyLocalYEG does not control and is not liable to or responsible for the quality, safety lawfulness or availability of the products or services offered for sales on the sites or the ability of the sellers to complete a sale or ability of buyers to complete a purchase. 

How much is the service? 

There is no enrolment fee, no commissions paid to BuyLocalYEG to start, no contracts. Since the service and platform are free, we simply ask the seller/vendor to be responsible for paying the Stripe Payment processing fee on every transaction (3%).

Fees

The fees we charge for using our services are listed on our standard selling fees page. We may change our seller fees from time to time by posting the changes on the BuyLocalYEG site 14 days in advance, but with no advance notice required for temporary promotions or any changes that result in the reduction of fees.

If you are a seller, you are liable for the transaction fees arising out of all sales made using some or all BuyLocalYEG services, even if sales terms are finalized or payment is made outside of BuyLocalYEG. In particular, if you offer or reference your contact information or ask a buyer for their contact information in the context of buying or selling outside of BuyLocalYEG, you may be liable to pay a final value fee applicable to that item, even if the item doesn’t sell, given your usage of BuyLocalYEG for the introduction to the buyer. 

You must have a payment method on file when selling through BuyLocalYEG and pay all fees and applicable taxes associated with our services by the payment due date. If your payment method fails or your account is past due, we may collect amounts owed by charging other payment methods on file with us, retain collection agencies and legal counsel, and, for all accounts over 60 days past due, request that paypal deduct the amount owed from your paypal account balance. In addition, you will be subject to late fees. 

Copyright infringement

If you believe that your work is being copied in a way that constitutes copyright infringement, please submit your complaint using our online form. We respond quickly to the concerns of rights owners about any alleged infringement.

Termination

There is no contract in place for terminating your store usage on BuyLocalYEG, However following the 30 day trial, we do require notice before the 15th day of the month to ensure the cancellation of your store before the next billing cycle begins (this is on the first of each month)
